Min historie

My background

Teater

Theatre

In 1974 I began to work with theater. I studied drama and worked as assistant director, prompter and stage manager.

Later I worked as an actress in several professional theatre companies; at the same time I studied diverse subjects such as acting techniques, speaking and singing, modern dance, Tai Chi, Dynamic Training, acrobatics and improvisation.

My last engagement was at Fiolteatret, where we toured Denmark extensively and we also carried the set designs.
We were furniture removers without proper lifting techniques and something was bound to go wrong.

Alexander Technique

Alexander Technique was what saved me. I began to take lessons in 1981 and underwent training as an instructor from 1986-1989. To experience the transformation that I went through was revolutionary for my body and mind.

Skolen for Moderne Dans

I became affiliated with Jorge Holguin Dance Theatre as its Alexander teacher.

Working with the dancers, it was greatly significant that I had experienced for myself what a difference it was for my expression and bearing to be consciously present in my body.

The Danish National School of Contemporary Dance

In 1993 I was employed as an Alexander Technique teacher at the Danish National School of Contemporary Dance at the Danish National School of Theatre.
For twelve wonderful years I helped to build up a new course of education together with people who, like me, worked with the fundamental techniques for maintenance, rehabilitation, mindfulness, and the development of the whole person. That is exactly what was necessary in order to support the students in their development as dancers.

The Pilates method that I became acquainted with in London with Alan Herdman in 1992 was a very useful and inspiring supplementary tool in my work.

blandt andet mit arbejde med danserne.

Coaching

with the dancers.

Coaching

Coaching became yet another inspiring encounter in my life.
Taking responsibility for your own learning and development is completely in keeping with the Alexander Technique.

If we wish to realize our fullest potential, we must be conscious of our fundamental patterns of thinking, acting and reacting, after which we can break them and open ourselves to new opportunities.
